The Devil Makes Work For Idle Thumbs...

I’m bored and feeling the energy of the Fruit Corner yoghurt (I just finished lunch) and need to keep myself busy due to not being able to restrain my self from disturbing other colleagues from their jobs.

I have realised that shouting across the room that “I’m bored” for the zillionth time will only make you be given more work and what makes it worse is that I’ve receive some good news which made me high and more fidgety.

Okies so this week I did some pretty interesting stuff.

Wait for it…. Wait for it…..

I went to the library… yes after all these years I set a date with a mate where we would go to the library and get books out. It’s been years that I’ve actually picked up a book and seeing everyone now reading I miss it.

So we went to the library and my mate right away went to the librarian and asked where the R.L.Stine books were. For those who are familiar with the books will remember reading the books with such enthusiasm. Her bright eyes looked expectantly at the librarian with what I can only describe as hope and a pure ecstatic smile when he pointed it out to her…… in the children section. Although I will not disclose her age but those who read the ‘Fear Street’ collection will be aware when they were on every child’s must have / reading list.

Although I spent rather long in the library I actually couldn’t find any book that got me interested and 20 minutes later I started looking for my friend and gave up all hope until I asked the librarian.

Me: Erm have you seen my friend by any chance??
Librarian: Yes she is still in the children section…
Me: Where is that?
Librarian: Through the entrance on the left.
Me: Typical
Librarian: Reliving her childhood moments is she?
Me: Ermm yeah (awkward smile)

And then I dragged her out, she got her books and we left.

Other than that….

I found another panda picture that is definitely me; especially with my eyes disappearing when I get tired which shamelessly is all the time

Don’t blame me I’m a panda fanatic and have way to much time on my hands…..

And the 'Best Aunty' Award goes to...

Last week I finally saw my mate’s baby, she is now only two weeks old and very fragile!!! Her name is Inaaya which means Gift from God. She looks so fragile so I spent half an hour looking at her before I actually carried her. When I saw her I was amazed as I actually forgot how small babies actually are and the fact that they won’t break if you touch them. Don’t worry peeps she takes after me in the looks department. Boom chicka wow wow. Lol.

I got her this mini pink dress, shoes and a summer hat. I love the dress it is way to cute. It’s so unfair though how there are more cute clothes for baby girls than baby boys as I am the proud aunt of my nephew and it’s so hard to buy cute clothes. Not that he needs it, he also takes after me lol.

My nephew is well on his way to becoming a self looking after, washing machine using bachelor. Albeit he is only now 19 months…… rest assured people I taught him well.

Stuff to teach and prepare kids to help them for the future….

1)    Health and Safety: It is essential to teach a child about health and safety at home. I taught my nephew to turn off the electrics at home. Okies so he goes and switches of the television when people are watching or turns the cooker off when people are midway through cooking meals…… the important thing here is that he learnt how to save energy by switching of electrical items around the home and to be safe at home.
2)    Turn on the washing machine: It is important to think about the child’s future…. I mean you don’t want the child to go away to university still not knowing how to turn the machine on. Through (ONLY) my wisdom my nephew does on the odd occasion put his own clothes in the machine as well as other random items such as phones and food. Heaven knows who put that idea in his head. He also turns the dial on the machine to different setting and presses other random buttons whilst it on!
3)    The fridge: Kids must learn the food appears in the fridge. Therefore I have taught my nephew to open the fridge and help himself to food. He also is very handy in the kitchen. He can carry his milk bottle out from the fridge and can also get his cereal (Coco Pops) out from the cupboard. Meal time is important as it enables us to bond while we both stuff our mouths.
4)    Sharing is caring: It is important for kids to learn to share so therefore I have taught him that he can share food and toys with others. Okies so he only shares his stuff (mainly food) with me and not with his other uncles and aunties. That is something I’m willing to let go.
5)    Exercise is important: From a small age it is essentials kids learn to be active. Therefore whether it’s rain or shine it is important to show others you are the king of the playground by being out there, chasing the birds away and scaring little girls. Excuses used: he loves the birds; boys will be boys and he has to learn to socialise with other babies. He also often catches a cold though which is not my fault.
6)    ICT Key Skills: It is important for kids to utilize equipments around them in order to allow them to succeed in the future. Therefore it is important to allow babies to watch baby movies and TV programmes and screensavers (I’m not kidding here!) on the computer. It keeps them quiet and they get so happy when they press random buttons on the keyboard. That way when they start school they can laugh at the kids who do not know how to use a computer. Hahahahaha

As you can see I take my role as an aunty very very seriously and if you ever need a babysitter (hint at Nikki) let me know. (*-*)

Me getting the award…..

P.S This is not a fake award which I made up… it actually happened and I was kind enough to protect the identities of the losers….

And It’s Sunny... Again

So as the weather was beautifully bright last week and therefore I got woken up at 7am due to the sun shining through. Yes even on days I don’t have work. And as I can’t handle the heat I wake up and within minutes the sun disappears. So you can imagine my annoyance on these days.

As it was unusually bright a few mates of mine decided to have a picnic and then go rowing. Yes they love the sun and little do they know if I had it my way we would have just gone my house, pulled the curtains and just have ice cream all day.... (This is why they don’t let me make the plans)

Picnic: well what could I say..... picnic was nice...... If only I wasn’t sitting in the direct sight of the sun which was causing my back to burn. And then the insects tried to help themselves to the food....

Rule number 1 when eating with me.....Raz doesn’t share food, regardless of your form. Handy hint to remember people!!

And so I shoved them off naturally. lol

Rowing: After the picnic we did end up going on a rowing excursion and I did share my leftovers with the ducks and swans. (See I can share sometimes). The pond was really shallow yet one of my mates insisted on wearing a lifejacket. I couldn’t stop laughing. No one is gonna drown in a shallow lake that they can walk on. That was the highlight of the day really. As we hadn’t been on a boat in ages we actually forgot how to move the boat and by the time we got the hang of it, the time was over lol.

One the way home..... well it’s the same story every time. I was stuck using public transport and it was  packed out, hot and moving really slow AND AS USUAL there is the issue of the lack of fresh oxygen available.

Boy was I glad to be home with the curtains shut and a bowl of ice cream!!!

Although I do complain a lot I actually did enjoy the day much to my surprise. But I think the next outing decision should be made by me!!

Maniac Days

This week feels like a laid back relaxed week so what this means for me is:

1.    I get up 20 minutes before I leave for work.
2.    I hog the bathroom, (well it’s only fair I have priority as I’m running late)
3.    I run for the bus and get mad if it leaves on time (the one day I’m late it decides to come early)
4.    And while doing all of the above I shove my little bro’s breakfast down my mouth. (a girl’s gotta eat)

As you can see what it relaxing week for me is not for those round me. Although it has to be said that extra 15 minute lie in does sometimes cost me dearly.

I miss the bus and have to wait for the next one. Then I get on a bus that is packed out and moving very slowly which is annoying. That is why finally after all these years I am putting my foot down and taking driving lesson. I can’t handle public transport no more.

With my driving lessons they are really funny.

Whilst many believe they have the right of way instead of learner drivers, they have yet to come across me. Although I am a learner driving I have a special flair when driving.

I mean I understand some learners are slow and many don’t have enough patience to let them drive, but make no mistake when crossing my path.

Let me explain my way of driving…..

If I have right of way and you see me and do not stop, I will press the accelerator and push forward until I go first. And then I will sound my horn so you get the message. The look on the other driver is pure shock and is unbelievably funny.

And then….

My driving instructor just laughs with me so I guess it is okay?

BTW anybody that wants driving lessons heed my advice, it actually works! The road’s your oyster; drive the way you want when there are no cameras!! (while obeying the rules of the road, right Raz? - Ed) hehehe

What a big CYNIC!

I’ve realised each week that I write, it actually gets harder to write about something. I just sit staring at the screen looking for inspiration. I mean I have no problem writing; it’s just that the things I want to write about are small insignificant moments and are not always enough to fill an entire blog up with.

However, one significant event (that I can write about) occurred and it actually restored (somewhat) my faith in humanity. So I kinda lost my oyster card, credit cards and license. It’s amazing how much I am attached to these things. In fact I’m so attached I appeared sullen the entire day. It put me off from enjoying myself. Yes, you heard right there (for once). Even my mates tried to cheer me up but distract me. But they ended up making me laugh while I was trying to cancel all sorts of cards.

This is what I actually ended up looking like!!

And you won’t believe what happened next…..

Yes, I got so depressed I went home like really early! Like 4pm early. And there it was, sitting on the living room table. No kidding. Some kind strangers hand delivered it straight to my house. They handed it to my house saying and I quote “big sis lost her wallet”. I couldn’t believe it! Funny thing is my family phoned me after they got it but they FORGOT to mention that. I think they wanted me to suffer a little more. How evil especially when they called me straight away just to check if I was okay!!!

You won’t believe how grateful I was and being grateful, well it is never in my nature. For a few seconds I couldn’t believe someone actually bothered to look through and went to all that effort to return it. It actually did restore my faith that there are decent people out there. And they did call me “big sis” after all. How sweet was that!

Don’t worry that didn’t last long….

A thought ran through my head, if there was money they probably would have nicked it.

I know what you’re thinking readers. It is an absolutely evil thought. But can you blame me? I was brought up in a ‘man eat man world’ mentality. It also doesn’t help with the media coverage of shocking stories as well. But what can I do? It’s not my fault! Most people are nice but others you have to be wary of.

And for those reading this blog…. Well you want to know what is going through my head??

You lazy bum! I working away at the office and yet here you are (probably at home) relaxing away. Get off, get a life and go enjoy the sun while you can!!! “Rolls eyes”.

And with that note I’ll end it and I just finished work so Woohooooo!!!

Reading Between the Lines

So last week I wrote a personal profile statement and my mate looked over and she was like “No, no, no, no, nooooooo. This will not do”.

But I looked at it over and over before I showed her and she was still disappointed. There is no pleasing some people. Okies, so I was a little blunt in my style of writing, but she wasn’t having any of it. It’s my work and she wants my statements to sound sophisticated and up to her standards. Which meant those who read it, will have to read it between the lines. (Sighs)
Here is a rough idea of what I meant.....

It is so funny how using different words makes the entire phrase sound better and boy am I now glad I got her to fix it up.

Mind you I’m not going to say that to her face. She will never let me forget it. She is one of these people that does not need food, she hovers around people to get compliments. You think this is bad, you should see her face actually light up when she gets a compliments- that’s what she lives off really. I’ve made it my mission to wipe that smile off now and then. I give her a compliment and diss her within seconds now. It is like second nature to me. Lol.

Actually I should rephrase that to my friend enjoys doing good deeds as she takes pleasure in earning a lot of brownie points from her peers. And as her good friend I always bring her down to earth. lol
Hope you enjoyed reading guys = I’m going to bed. Bye. :P

Work, work and more work

This week I was told by someone they stayed up to 2am just so they could meet their daily target of revision. I laughed so hard. Yes it's exam prep month at university and everyone is slowly putting their heads down to revise. All these students sitting on the grass with books on hand while me with no exams, strolling down leisurely through campus with a Mcflurry on one hand. It is (for once!) too much of a beautiful week to allow my brain any exercise.

Even then, sadly I don’t ever remember studying this hard for my undergraduate. Maybe I was too clever for my course as I took everything in my stride. (I can imagine you guys actually rolling your eyes here but who knows :P)

In fact I spent more time trying to get more shifts here and there. My biggest achievement was working 8 shifts in 7 days. For me it was the best week ever; however my friends were disgusted when they realised they were deserted for work. (I’m not kidding here). No matter how much they joke about me being a workaholic I think they had enough now of being placed second to work.

It all started in 2nd year of university where I got my first part-time job. I was so chuffed. However, because I moved house I needed more money for expenses. A lot went on travelling and eating out really. I mean back in 1st year, university was within walking distance to my house so I never really needed money let alone an oyster card, I had money under control.

Then the problems started. My outgoings were greater than my income; the more I worked the grander my purchases became. It became a need to buy random junk that I wouldn't even need. I got another job, and another and another. Let’s just say I got a whole lotta jobs there.

Now finally my income is more than my outcome. But every now and then (believe it or not), I actually get sick of working.

Than after having a two day break I miss work. Lol. That is how it is with me. It’s got to a point where the only holiday I have been to within the last few years (yes years) was to a funeral. I had no choice but to go.

No matter how much I complain about working too much to fool people sometimes, I think people have stopped believing it. But it would be nice to actually have an option to work without having to worry about money. My other unrealistically hope (PLAN B) was to inherit a lot of money, enough to retire for life, but it looks like it is not going to happen. Hope you readers are taking the hint here when writing your wills.

Finally I’m going to finish this blog with what many people have been waiting ages to hear.
I’m finally coming clean...... I am a workaholic and I’m proud of it:
