And the 'Best Aunty' Award goes to...

Last week I finally saw my mate’s baby, she is now only two weeks old and very fragile!!! Her name is Inaaya which means Gift from God. She looks so fragile so I spent half an hour looking at her before I actually carried her. When I saw her I was amazed as I actually forgot how small babies actually are and the fact that they won’t break if you touch them. Don’t worry peeps she takes after me in the looks department. Boom chicka wow wow. Lol.

I got her this mini pink dress, shoes and a summer hat. I love the dress it is way to cute. It’s so unfair though how there are more cute clothes for baby girls than baby boys as I am the proud aunt of my nephew and it’s so hard to buy cute clothes. Not that he needs it, he also takes after me lol.

My nephew is well on his way to becoming a self looking after, washing machine using bachelor. Albeit he is only now 19 months…… rest assured people I taught him well.

Stuff to teach and prepare kids to help them for the future….

1)    Health and Safety: It is essential to teach a child about health and safety at home. I taught my nephew to turn off the electrics at home. Okies so he goes and switches of the television when people are watching or turns the cooker off when people are midway through cooking meals…… the important thing here is that he learnt how to save energy by switching of electrical items around the home and to be safe at home.
2)    Turn on the washing machine: It is important to think about the child’s future…. I mean you don’t want the child to go away to university still not knowing how to turn the machine on. Through (ONLY) my wisdom my nephew does on the odd occasion put his own clothes in the machine as well as other random items such as phones and food. Heaven knows who put that idea in his head. He also turns the dial on the machine to different setting and presses other random buttons whilst it on!
3)    The fridge: Kids must learn the food appears in the fridge. Therefore I have taught my nephew to open the fridge and help himself to food. He also is very handy in the kitchen. He can carry his milk bottle out from the fridge and can also get his cereal (Coco Pops) out from the cupboard. Meal time is important as it enables us to bond while we both stuff our mouths.
4)    Sharing is caring: It is important for kids to learn to share so therefore I have taught him that he can share food and toys with others. Okies so he only shares his stuff (mainly food) with me and not with his other uncles and aunties. That is something I’m willing to let go.
5)    Exercise is important: From a small age it is essentials kids learn to be active. Therefore whether it’s rain or shine it is important to show others you are the king of the playground by being out there, chasing the birds away and scaring little girls. Excuses used: he loves the birds; boys will be boys and he has to learn to socialise with other babies. He also often catches a cold though which is not my fault.
6)    ICT Key Skills: It is important for kids to utilize equipments around them in order to allow them to succeed in the future. Therefore it is important to allow babies to watch baby movies and TV programmes and screensavers (I’m not kidding here!) on the computer. It keeps them quiet and they get so happy when they press random buttons on the keyboard. That way when they start school they can laugh at the kids who do not know how to use a computer. Hahahahaha

As you can see I take my role as an aunty very very seriously and if you ever need a babysitter (hint at Nikki) let me know. (*-*)

Me getting the award…..

P.S This is not a fake award which I made up… it actually happened and I was kind enough to protect the identities of the losers….
